Shirley Lane Elementary Home

About Us

Shirley Lane Elementary School was built in 2004. Shirley Lane students and staff take pride in being SLE STARS and strive every day to shine their brightest. We provide a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment where students, parents, and staff are honored. Shirley Lane is known for its positive school culture and outreach to families and the community.  Parents are viewed as partners in their child's education, and their participation is encouraged. SLE loves to celebrate staff, students, and families and provide fun and engaging activities and events. We shine brighter together. Always remember...GO STARS!

Our Mission

Vision
At Shirley Lane Elementary School, our vision is to develop well-rounded, confident, respectful, and responsible STARS who have a growth mindset and continually strive for their personal best. We will accomplish this by providing a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and supportive family environment, in which all students are given equal opportunities to learn at their highest level and student and staff achievements are celebrated.
Mission
Our mission is to develop the whole child by providing high-quality academic instruction, modeling positive behavior expectations, and being committed to providing social-emotional learning to meet the needs of all students.

Principal's Message

As the Principal of Shirley Lane Elementary School, it is my goal to support students, staff, and families. I am a Bakersfield native who grew up much like the children in our community. I have been a teacher and Principal in both private and public schools and have served in education for 30 years. I believe in being an instructional leader who works with educators to provide high-quality, engaging instruction in order for all students to learn at high levels. My priorities include continuing to build a positive school culture, continually improving instructional practices, providing social-emotional learning, and working to build relationships among students, staff, families, and the community.
